When to use it
Use a receipt after a customer’s payment has actually arrived. It can document a deposit, progress payment or final payment.
Example: a partial payment
A fence repair totals $500 before an illustrative 5% tax, or $525. After an earlier $100 deposit and a new $250 payment, this receipt records $250 received and a $175 balance. It does not mark the whole job as paid.
Use the Load example button to see these numbers. The business and customer are fictional, and the example tax rate is not a recommendation for your location.
What this free tool handles
The generator rounds each line to two decimal places, totals taxable lines, applies one tax rate and subtracts payments. It does not send invoices, collect payments, verify tax rates or sync an accounting ledger.
For ongoing jobs, Dave connects estimates, invoices and payments. This free tool is useful when you only need a document.
